De Smet (also spelled Desmet) is an unincorporated census-designated place on the Coeur d'Alene Reservation in Benewah County, Idaho, United States. De Smet is located near U.S. Route 95 south of Tensed. De Smet has a post office with ZIP code 83824.〔(ZIP Code Lookup )〕 As of the 2010 census, its population was 175.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://factfinder2.census.gov/main.html )〕 It was named for Belgian Father Pierre De Smet, a 19th-century Jesuit missionary who worked with Native Americans in the United States and its territories for most of his life. ==Climate== This region experiences warm (but not hot) and dry summers, with no average monthly temperatures above 71.6 °F. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, De Smet has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate, abbreviated "Csb" on climate maps.〔(Climate Summary for De Smet, Idaho )〕
